Tuesday 18 November 2025 marked the final day of the four-day AiMTT course Data, AI and Multimodal Traffic Management in Delft. More than 30 mobility professionals and PhD researchers explored how artificial intelligence and data can be applied to manage complex, multimodal traffic systems. MICD was closely involved in setting up the course.

To address challenges at the intersection of AI & Mobility, the TU Delft | AI Initiative, Mobility Innovation Centre Delft (MICD) and the Transport & Mobility Institute (TMI) brought together leading experts from science, industry and government during TU Delft’s festive Dies Natalis week “Making Sense of Mobility”. Hosted by Mondai, the AI & Mobility Day on January 17th, was about shaping the future of AI in mobility.

Designing the mobility of the future is complex, due to several factors. On the part of the European Union, the urgency to drastically reduce CO² emissions is high. Furthermore, our cities are getting busier and the diversity in means of transport is increasing. With more sustainable choices and increasing pressure on energy supplies in mind, the question arises: how can we better spread traffic and influence travel choices?

High tides have become increasingly common in the Netherlands in recent years. Therefore, we are developing an online tool to manage a safe and timely evacuation.

We are proud to announce that we are starting a long term collaboration with the Netherlands Vehicle Authority (RDW). Together, RDW and TU Delft scientists, we will define several research topics, varying from data driven predictions to practical tests in our field lab.
